For flowmeters without a ball valve, they should be installed on a non-pressurized pipeline. This allows for a straightforward installation since non-pressurized pipelines enable the selection of flowmeters without the need for a ball valve.
A hole with a diameter of 50mm should be carefully made in the pipeline. Ensure that preparations are in place to weld a connecting pipe securely to the opening.
For scenarios that demand continuous flow during loading and unloading, or where media overflow must be avoided, incorporating a ball valve is essential. This necessitates the selection of an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter with a ball valve structure.
Again, create a hole with a diameter of 50mm in the pipeline and make necessary arrangements to weld a connecting pipe to the opening.

The installation requires specific straight pipe sections: 5D upstream and 3D downstream. Adhering to these specifications ensures the optimal performance and accuracy of the electromagnetic flowmeter.
The measurement principle of the electromagnetic flowmeter is independent of the flow characteristics. This robust principle ensures accurate readings even under varying conditions.
If turbulence and vortices are generated in the non-measurement area of the pipeline (such as near elbows, tangential throttling, or a partially open shut-off valve upstream), it will not impact the measurement performance.
However, steady-state vortices within the measurement area can compromise both stability and accuracy.
In such instances, measures should be taken to stabilize the flow distribution:
1.2. Pipeline-type electromagnetic flowmeter
2.1. Requirements for straight sections To mitigate the effects of vortices and flow field distortion, specific lengths for the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the flowmeter are essential. Otherwise, measurement accuracy will be compromised. Installing a straightener is advisable, and avoid placing the flowmeter close to control valves or partially open valves.
2.2. Requirements for the process pipes The flowmeter has critical requirements for the upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point to ensure measurement accuracy. a. The inner diameter of the upstream and downstream process pipes should match the sensor's diameter and meet the condition: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the sensor's inner diameter, and D is the process pipe's inner diameter). b. The process pipe and the sensor must be concentric, with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.
2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes: To ensure seamless maintenance of the flowmeter, installing a bypass pipe is highly recommended. For fluids with heavy contamination, or when cleaning the flowmeter without halting fluid flow, a bypass pipe is essential. a. Facilitates maintenance of the flowmeter. b. Mandatory for heavily contaminated fluids. c. Allows cleaning of the flowmeter without stopping fluid flow.
3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters: Precise installation is crucial for optimal performance and accuracy.
3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections: Ensure inlet/outlet straight pipe sections comply with the following: Inlet should be ≥ 10×DN; Outlet should be ≥ 5×DN for optimal flow accuracy and stability.
3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points: To guarantee reliable instrument operation and enhanced measurement precision, minimize the influence of external parasitic potentials. Ensure the sensor has excellent grounding, with grounding resistance below 10. (If the metal pipeline is adequately grounded, a separate grounding device is unnecessary.)
3.3. Requirements for Installation Position: Refer to the accompanying diagram for precise installation positioning.
