For pipelines that are not pressurized, flowmeters without a ball valve are ideal. This non-pressurized installation allows for a seamless selection of flowmeters without the need for a ball valve.
Create a hole with a diameter of 50mm in the pipeline, and prepare to weld a connecting pipe to this opening.
For scenarios requiring continuous flow during loading and unloading or where media overflow must be prevented, incorporating a ball valve is essential. Consequently, an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter with a ball valve structure should be selected.
Again, create a hole with a diameter of 50mm in the pipeline, and prepare to weld a connecting pipe to the opening.

The measurement principle of the electromagnetic flowmeter is independent of the flow characteristics, offering flexibility in various conditions.
Even if turbulence and vortices are present in non-measurement areas of the pipeline, such as elbows, tangential throttling, or partially open shut-off valves upstream, the measurement remains unaffected.
However, the presence of steady-state vortices within the measurement area will compromise the stability and accuracy of the readings.
In such cases, stabilizing the flow distribution is crucial. Here are some measures to achieve this:
1.2. Pipeline-type electromagnetic flowmeter
2.1. Requirements for straight sections To mitigate the effects of vortices and distortions in the flow field, observe specific lengths for the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the flowmeter. This prevents measurement inaccuracies. Installing a straightener and avoiding placements near control and partially open valves is also advisable.
2.2. Requirements for the process pipes The flowmeter has stringent requirements for the upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point to maintain measurement accuracy: a. The inner diameters of the upstream and downstream process pipes should match that of the sensor, adhering to: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the sensor's inner diameter, and D is the diameter of the process pipe). b. Ensure the process pipe and sensor are concentric, with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.
2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes Ensuring seamless maintenance of the flowmeter is paramount; thus, incorporating a bypass pipe is highly recommended. This becomes even more crucial when dealing with heavily contaminated fluids or when flowmeter cleaning is necessary without interrupting fluid flow. Essential guidelines include: a. Ease maintenance procedures for the flowmeter. b. Mandatory installation for handling heavily contaminated fluids. c. Enable flowmeter cleaning without halting the fluid flow.
3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters
3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections To achieve optimal performance, precise lengths of straight pipe sections are crucial. For the inlet, a length of ≥ 10×DN is required, while the outlet necessitates a length of ≥ 5×DN.
3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points For unmatched operational reliability and superior measurement precision, the instrument must be insulated from external parasitic potentials. This entails excellent grounding of the sensor, ensuring a grounding resistance of less than 10 ohms. (If the metal pipeline already has sufficient grounding, an additional dedicated grounding device is not needed.)
3.3. Requirements for Installation Position The installation position must strictly adhere to the guidelines illustrated in the provided diagram.
