Flowmeters without a ball valve should be installed on a non-pressurized pipeline, which allows for the selection of flowmeters without a ball valve for simplified integration.
A hole with a diameter of 50 mm should be made in the pipeline, and preparations should be made to weld a connecting pipe to the opening in the pipeline for secure and efficient installation.
For situations requiring continuous flow during loading and unloading or where media overflow is not permitted, a ball valve must be added. This necessitates selecting an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter with a ball valve structure.

The measurement principle of the electromagnetic flowmeter is independent of the flow characteristics, ensuring reliable performance under varied conditions.
If certain amounts of turbulence and vortices are generated in the non-measurement area of the pipeline, such as at elbows, tangential throttling, or upstream partially open shut-off valves, it will not affect the measurement.
However, if steady-state vortices exist in the measurement area, it will impact the stability and accuracy of the readings.
In such cases, various measures should be taken to stabilize the flow distribution, ensuring optimal measurement performance:
1.2. Pipeline-type Electromagnetic Flowmeter
2.1. Requirements for Straight Sections To mitigate the effects of vortices and flow field distortion, specific lengths of straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the flowmeter are required, otherwise, measurement accuracy will be compromised. Installing a straightener and avoiding placement close to control valves and partially open valves is advisable.
2.2. Requirements for Process Pipes The flowmeter has specific requirements for the upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point to maintain measurement accuracy. a. The inner diameter of the upstream and downstream process pipes should match the sensor: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the sensor's inner diameter, and D is the process pipe's inner diameter). b. The process pipe and sensor must be concentric with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.
2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes: To ensure seamless maintenance and optimal performance of your flowmeter, it is recommended to install a bypass pipe. This becomes essential in instances involving heavily contaminated fluids or when there is a need to clean the flowmeter without halting the fluid flow. a. Facilitates the maintenance of the flowmeter. b. Mandatory for handling heavily contaminated fluids. c. Ensures continuous fluid flow during flowmeter cleaning operations.
3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters: Detailed guidance for the proper installation of insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeters.
3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections: Ensure precise measurement and smooth operation by adhering to the following guidelines for straight pipe sections. Inlet: Must be ≥ 10×DN; Outlet: Must be ≥ 5×DN.
3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points: To guarantee reliable performance and enhanced measurement accuracy, the grounding of the sensor is crucial. The grounding resistance should be less than 10. If the metal pipeline is well-grounded, a dedicated grounding device is unnecessary. Proper grounding mitigates the influence of external parasitic potentials, ensuring consistent and accurate readings.
