Piping Condition
The installation of the vortex flowmeter requires a specific straight pipe section before and after the sensor. Here are the common scenarios (D represents the pipe diameter):
1.
Install the sensor on a horizontal, vertical, or inclined pipe (with liquid flowing from bottom to top) with the same diameter as the sensor. Ensure that there is a straight pipe section of 15-20D upstream and 5-10D downstream of the sensor.
2.
Ensure the pipe near the liquid sensor is filled with the liquid to be measured.
3.
Avoid installing the sensor on pipes with strong mechanical vibrations.
4.
The inner diameter of the straight pipe section should match the sensor diameter. If not, use a slightly larger diameter pipe with a deviation of ≤3% and no more than 5mm. Avoid installing the sensor in areas with strong electromagnetic interference, limited space, or where maintenance is difficult..
5.
For horizontal pipelines, which are the most common for flow sensors, if measuring gas flow with some liquid, install the sensor at the highest point. For liquid flow with some gas, install it at the lowest point.
6.
For vertical pipelines, when measuring gas flow, you can install the sensor on a vertical pipe without worrying about flow direction. If the gas contains some liquid, ensure the flow is from bottom to top. For liquid flow, also ensure the flow is from bottom to top to prevent extra weight on the probe.
7.
Side mounting on horizontal pipelines is suitable for all fluids, especially superheated steam, saturated steam, and low-temperature liquids. Side mounting is preferable if conditions allow, as it reduces temperature impact on the amplifier.
8.
Inverted sensor installation on horizontal pipelines is generally not recommended. It is unsuitable for general gases or superheated steam but can be used for saturated steam and high-temperature liquids or where frequent cleaning is required.
9.
For pipelines with insulation layers, when measuring high-temperature steam, ensure the insulation layer does not exceed one-third of the bracket height.
10.
Selecting pressure and temperature measurement points: If required, the pressure measurement point should be 3-5D downstream of the sensor, and the temperature measurement point should be 6-8D downstream.
