Piping Condition
The installation of the vortex flowmeter requires a specific length of straight pipe both upstream and downstream. The typical requirements are as follows (D represents the pipe's diameter):
1.
Ensure the sensor is mounted on a horizontal, vertical, or inclined pipe (with liquid flowing bottom to top) that matches the sensor's diameter. The upstream pipe should be 15-20D in length, while the downstream pipe should be 5-10D to ensure accurate measurements.
2.
The pipe near the liquid sensor must be fully filled with the liquid to be measured.
3.
Avoid installing the sensor on pipes experiencing strong mechanical vibrations.
4.
The inner diameter of the straight pipe should match the sensor's diameter as closely as possible. If not, use a slightly larger pipe with a diameter error of ≤3% and not more than 5mm. Do not install the sensor in areas with strong electromagnetic interference, restricted space, or where maintenance would be difficult..
5.
Horizontal pipeline installation is the most common. For gas with some liquid content, install the sensor at a higher point in the pipeline. For liquid with gas content, install the sensor at a lower point in the pipeline.
6.
Vertical pipeline installation. For gas flow, install without flow direction restriction. If gas contains liquid, ensure flow is bottom to top. For liquids, maintain a bottom to top flow to avoid additional probe weight.
7.
Side mounting sensors on horizontal pipelines are preferable for measuring superheated steam, saturated steam, and low-temperature liquids as it minimizes temperature impact on the amplifier.
8.
Inverted installation on horizontal pipelines is generally discouraged. Suitable for saturated steam and high-temperature liquids or where frequent pipeline cleaning is required.
9.
When installing sensors on insulated pipelines, ensure the insulation does not exceed one-third of the bracket height for high-temperature steam.
10.
Pressure and temperature measurement points should be selected carefully: pressure measurement points should be 3-5D downstream, while temperature measurement points should be 6-8D downstream of the sensor.
