For non-pressurized pipelines, flowmeters without a ball valve can be selected and installed easily.

In scenarios requiring continuous flow or where media overflow is not permitted, a ball valve must be added. This necessitates choosing an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter with a ball valve structure.

The requirements for the straight pipe sections are 5D upstream and 3D downstream. This ensures proper use of the electromagnetic flowmeter and meets accuracy requirements.
The measurement principle of the electromagnetic flowmeter does not depend on the flow characteristics.
Even if turbulence and vortices are generated in the non-measurement area of the pipeline, such as at elbows, tangential throttling, or a partially open shut-off valve upstream, it will not affect the measurement.
However, if steady-state vortices exist in the measurement area, they will affect the stability and accuracy of the measurement.
In such cases, measures should be taken to stabilize the flow distribution:
1.2. Pipeline-type Electromagnetic Flowmeter
2.1. Requirements for Straight Sections To mitigate the effects of vortices and flow field distortion, there are specific requirements for the lengths of the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the flowmeter. Otherwise, measurement accuracy will be compromised. Installing a straightener and avoiding placement near control valves and partially open valves is advisable.
2.2. Requirements for Process Pipes The flowmeter has specific requirements for the upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation point to ensure measurement accuracy. a. The inner diameter of the upstream and downstream process pipes should be the same as that of the sensor, meeting the condition: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the inner diameter of the sensor, and D is the inner diameter of the process pipe). b. The process pipe and sensor must be concentric, with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN.
2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes To ensure seamless maintenance and optimal performance of the flowmeter, it is highly recommended to install a bypass pipe. This is especially crucial for systems dealing with heavily contaminated fluids and scenarios where the flowmeter needs cleaning without interrupting the fluid flow. a. The installation of a bypass pipe simplifies the maintenance of the flowmeter. b. It is mandatory for systems with heavily contaminated fluids. c. For systems where fluid flow cannot be halted during the cleaning of the flowmeter, a bypass pipe is essential.
3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters
3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections Inlet/Outlet Straight Pipe Sections: To ensure accurate measurement and performance, the inlet straight pipe section should be at least 10 times the diameter of the pipe (≥ 10×DN), while the outlet straight pipe section should be at least 5 times the diameter of the pipe (≥ 5×DN).
3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points To guarantee the reliable operation of the instrument and enhance the measurement accuracy, it is crucial to mitigate the impact of external parasitic potentials. The sensor must have excellent grounding, with a grounding resistance of less than 10 ohms. (Note: If the metal pipeline is already well-grounded, a dedicated grounding device is not necessary.)
3.3. Requirements for Installation Position The installation position should strictly adhere to the diagram provided, ensuring optimal performance and accuracy.
