Flowmeters without a ball valve should be installed on non-pressurized pipelines. This allows for the selection of flowmeters without the necessity of a ball valve, ensuring a smoother installation process.
A hole with a diameter of 50 mm should be created in the pipeline, followed by welding a connecting pipe to this opening. This step is crucial for a secure and accurate installation.
For scenarios requiring continuous flow during loading/unloading or where media overflow must be prevented, a ball valve is essential. In such cases, an insertion-type electromagnetic flowmeter with a ball valve structure should be employed.
A hole with a diameter of 50 mm should be drilled into the pipeline, and a connecting pipe should be welded to this opening to prepare for the flowmeter installation.

To ensure the proper functioning and accuracy of the electromagnetic flowmeter, the straight pipe sections should be 5D upstream and 3D downstream. This alignment meets the necessary accuracy requirements.
The measurement principle of the electromagnetic flowmeter is independent of the flow's characteristics, ensuring reliable readings under various conditions.
Turbulence and vortices in non-measurement areas (like elbows, tangential throttles, or partially open shut-off valves upstream) do not affect the measurement, ensuring dependable results.
However, steady-state vortices within the measurement area can impact measurement stability and accuracy. This must be avoided for precise readings.
To stabilize the flow distribution when steady-state vortices are present, several measures can be adopted:
1.2. Pipeline-type Electromagnetic Flowmeter
2.1. Requirements for Straight Sections To reduce vortices and flow field distortion, specific lengths for the straight pipe sections upstream and downstream of the flowmeter are necessary. Without this, measurement accuracy will be compromised. Consider using a flow straightener and avoid installing close to control or partially open valves.
2.2. Requirements for Process Pipes The flowmeter has precise requirements for upstream and downstream process pipes at the installation site. The inner diameter of these pipes should match the sensor's diameter: 0.98DN ≤ D ≤ 1.05DN (where DN is the sensor's inner diameter). Additionally, the process pipe and sensor must be concentric, with an axial deviation not exceeding 0.05DN, ensuring measurement precision.
2.3. Requirements for Bypass Pipes To ensure the utmost convenience in maintaining your flowmeter, the installation of a bypass pipe is highly recommended. This is particularly crucial for handling heavily contaminated fluids and scenarios where the flowmeter needs to be cleaned without interrupting the fluid flow. a. Simplifies the maintenance process of the flowmeter. b. Essential for handling heavily contaminated fluids. c. Allows uninterrupted fluid flow during cleaning procedures.
3. Installation Requirements for Insertion-Type Electromagnetic Flowmeters
3.1. Requirements for Straight Pipe Sections Inlet and outlet straight pipe sections: To optimize performance, the inlet section should be at least 10 times the diameter of the pipe (≥ 10×DN), while the outlet section should be no less than 5 times the diameter of the pipe (≥ 5×DN).
3.2. Requirements for Grounding Points To guarantee the reliable operation of your flowmeter and enhance measurement accuracy, it must be shielded from external parasitic potentials. Ensure the sensor is properly grounded, maintaining a grounding resistance of less than 10 ohms. (Note: If the metal pipeline is already well-grounded, a dedicated grounding device is unnecessary.)
3.3. Requirements for Installation Position Refer to the accompanying diagram for precise installation positioning.
